1. More Accessible and Efficient Processes
One major focus of the SIP Plan is decreasing wait times. The plan focuses on promoting and expanding options like renewal kiosks and our online renewal service so that you can spend less time at a Driver Service office. In addition, the Secretary of State's office will work to provide citizens with up-to-date wait times online and expand on the DPS trial programs for online check-in and Saturday appointments for first-time drivers.
2. Service-Oriented Because Taxpayers Are Our Customers
The Secretary of State's office has prioritized customer service, and that same priority will transfer to our driver services locations. We will provide Mississippians with professional, customer-friendly representatives and we will expand our call center to make it easier to ask questions about getting or renewing a license.
3. Redesigned Website Dedicated to Driver's Licenses
Another priority will be launching a new, user-friendly driver services website. It will make it easier to find information and allow more Mississippians to take advantage of our innovative online renewal system.
4. Information That's Timely and Useful
Under the SIP Plan, Driver Services offices will provide Mississippians with an opt-in notification system. If you choose to participate, the office will be able to notify you via text and email when your license is about to expire and provide you with guidance on your renewal options.
5. Save Taxpayer Dollars and Support Businesses Through Privatization
By privatizing the testing portion of driver services, we can save taxpayer dollars and put a greater focus on increased customer service. In addition, privatizing the Commercial Driver License (CDL) process will help Mississippi truckers get new employees on the road faster and with less hassle, allowing those small businesses to compete on a national scale.
